Commissioner of Building Department (COB)

To ensure maintenance of common properties are carried out in an organised manner in compliance to the laws and regulations set in creating a clean and harmonious common property living environment for multilevel development.

Functions

• To create, maintain and update strata development information.
• To coordinate implementation of the Building and Common Property Act (Act 663) and Article VI and VII of the Strata Title Act (Act 318).
• To ensure developers hold the established Joint Management Body (JMB) and Management Committee (MC) inaugural meeting.
• To manage registration and issuance of the JMB certificate.
• To manage complaints regarding maintenance and management of common property issues.
• To provide advisory services to the developers/JMB/MC regarding maintenance and management of common properties.
• To provide briefings/explanations on Act 663 and attend the JMB/MC Annual General Meeting.
